It’s been another incredible year of advances in the connectivity market. Predictions last year – over how eSIMs, IoT and 5G would continue their advance – have been proved right. There have been other exciting developments too – such as the impact of generative AI, and iOS devices beginning to support Rich Communication Services (RCS).
Throughout 2024, Three Group Solutions (TGS) has helped our customers to leverage the latest technology and unlock real business outcomes. We look forward to leading the way into 2025 and continuing to bring you the best of what’s here now, and on the horizon.
Certainly, the future will feature generative AI in a big way. It made a huge impact and created a major buzz across every sector in 2024. Those businesses with fully connected people, assets and data are best placed to capitalise on the endless opportunities generative AI presents. We’ve worked closely with our sister AI company, CKDelta, in 2024 to deliver IoT connectivity and AI solutions to the utilities and shipping ports sectors who are at the forefront of technology adoption to improve business efficiency and safety.
Another growth area for 2025 will, no doubt, be in Rich Communication Services (RCS) messaging and its use in the business messaging sector. RCS is the evolution of SMS to support the rich messaging functions users are familiar with from over the top (OTT) messaging providers, but all within the native handset messaging app. Android devices have natively supported RCS for several years now but, without iOS device support, the adoption of RCS as an alternative business messaging delivery medium to SMS has been limited.
This all changed though, late this year, for a few initial markets where Apple devices, running the latest version of iOS, now support RCS. The ability for businesses in these markets to now send messages to both Android and iOS devices, via RCS, will finally unlock the benefits of RCS for the application to person (A2P) market.
Last year, we noted how eSIMs were being applied in the real world, transforming the connectivity distribution model and opening the opportunity for digital brands to add connectivity to their offerings. This trend has accelerated through 2024 and looks set to continue with many new digital only connectivity providers entering the market and established brands in other sectors now stretching to connectivity, thanks to eSIM.
The industrial sector is spearheading the business transformation opportunities enabled by low latency, fast, and resilient connectivity. With shipping ports deploying autonomous vehicles to move containers and wind farms leveraging autonomous drones for turbine inspection. TGS’s experience delivering the critical connectivity to support these demanding applications in complex environments sets us apart in the industrial wireless sector and we expect another busy year in 2025.
IoT continues to play a critical role in our everyday lives, connecting our utility meters, vehicles, cameras and every other use case in between. Our IoT connections have grown significantly in 2024 and will continue to do so, aided by our recently announced partnership with TEAL that will bring our mobile footprint to even more global business customers.
As we approach the end of the year, it’s a great time to give consideration to how these technologies might enhance your operations? Whether it’s saving time and money or improving your customer experience, mobile technologies and the latest in AI will surely play an important role.
Get off to a flying start in 2025. Talk to TGS about how you want to improve the competitive capabilities of your business using advanced mobile connectivity.
