A year in review and a glimpse into 2024

The past year has been nothing short of transformative for the network and connectivity space. From the mainstream adoption of eSIMs, to the maturation of IoT and the steady rise of 5G, we’re experiencing a wave of change that unlocks exciting opportunities for businesses across all sectors.

At Three Group Solutions, we’re proud to have been at the forefront of this transformation, helping customers keep up with the pace of change while also acting as a driving force in shaping the future of connectivity. Three key technologies have seen significant progress over the past year, and we’re excited to help our clients and partners harness them to transform further in the coming year.

First, there’s eSIM. Whilst eSIM has been around for a while in IoT, it's only recently that we've seen real-world applications gaining momentum for human use — particularly in the travel and hospitality sectors. Via apps and QR codes, users can download temporary eSIMs, to run in parallel with their primary SIM, that deliver connectivity services tailored to their temporary foreign location or event.

Looking ahead, the possibilities with eSIM technology are vast, catering to both individual end-users and businesses. The technology unlocks a realm of possibilities for businesses who want to explore the opportunity to offer their own branded connectivity, via their own app, in a quick launch, low risk way. It's an exciting proposition, and we are proud to have the infrastructure needed to help our clients harness eSIM tech and join this journey of innovation.

Similarly, the Internet of Things (IoT) has matured and expanded over the past year. Industries such as shipping ports, logistics, and utilities are emerging as beacons of innovation in the IoT space.

This isn't just about adopting the latest technology; it's about creating interconnected ecosystems that redefine efficiency and performance. Going forward, we predict that 2024 will see a further acceleration of innovative IoT use cases — one that will make seamless connectivity more accessible to businesses seeking improved efficiency and greater automation in their operations.

The steady rise of 5G has also been a source of anticipation. We believe that sectors embracing autonomous vehicles and remote-controlled machinery will be the trailblazers, leveraging 5G's low-latency and high-reliability capabilities. Already, sectors such as shipping ports and manufacturing are beginning to make strides in harnessing the power of 5G — strides that are being closely monitored by other sectors to transform their operations and improve safety.

As for us, the past year has been an exciting one. We’ve seen some of our most ambitious investments come to fruition, which has enabled us to introduce cutting-edge technologies that redefine connectivity — and make them available to our customers. Through our Mobile Virtual Network Enabler (MVNE) platform, we’ve been able to help brands deploy mobile services under their own brand faster than ever before.

We’ve also had a lot of success with helping our customers connect seamlessly using our SD-WAN technology (software-defined wide area networks) — especially in the retail space, where businesses need to connect thousands of stores and manage them centrally. Similarly, we’ve helped clients across multiple sectors develop their IoT strategies and bring them into the real world, using our global mobile footprint and private industrial network expertise.

These technologies aren’t just tools; they’re the building blocks of a connected future. That said: we don’t want businesses to adopt new technology just for the sake of embracing the new; we want our customers to be their sector’s pioneers who embrace industry-shifting ways of leveraging connectivity and of working.

We’d like to invite you to think beyond business as usual in 2024. Connectivity is the foundation of safer, faster, better operations. And, we’re here to be a partner in your journey toward a connected future.

Start the year right. Talk to us about your connectivity needs and the greater role connectivity solutions could play in your business.
